My dentist referred me to Dr Bani for a “re-tree root canal”. I had a root canal and crown three years ago and now he was concerned it had an infection after Dr Bani reviewed my new x-rays ,he called my dentist and consulted with him. He decided that my root canal was done perfectly and it’s fine and I don’t need him to do another root canal , Bonnie is very professional. Kind person!
He has a clean modern office with a great staff and he saved me $2000.

Every review I have posted on Google has been a five stars review. This review of Dr. Shahryar Bani (Banihashemi) is a three star. Expect only objective facts in this review, and no subjective opinion. The purpose is for the benefit of prospective patients to prevent any possibility of their having to undergo a similar experience. The names of other dental professionals mentioned will be kept anonymous. I was referred to Dr. Bani by my dentist about eighteen months ago. It was not my first visit to Dr. Bani, but this review focuses on this last experience only. After Dr. Bani had performed a root canal, my dentist installed a crown on the tooth. Soon after, I was referred to a dental surgeon to perform a dental implant on another tooth. The dental surgeon, while examining every tooth, detected an infection in the tooth on which Dr. Bani had performed a root canal months earlier. He explained that Dr. Bani had to treat the infection in that tooth himself, since he was the Endodontist who had performed its root canal, and explained to me that Dr. Bani would have to remove the crown in order to treat the infection effectively. He referred me back to Dr. Bani and also contacted Dr. Bani to explain the urgency of addressing this developing infection asap. When I returned to Dr. Bani, upon looking at the tooth, he declared that rather than remove the crown altogether, he could just drill a hole through it and through the hole place a drop to heal the infection. I agreed to his suggestion, since I considered him the expert in root canal infections. That visit was free of charge, since it was for the purpose of completing the work of a previous visit. Then Dr. Bani’s son, who was serving as receptionist at the front desk, came in to announce that the next patient had just arrived in the waiting room. Dr. Bani asked him when the next vacant spot in the schedule was. It happened to be five weeks later. Dr. Bani stepped back next to the patient’s chair and said to me: « I changed my mind about inserting the medicine through the crown today. I will see you in five weeks and check the tooth at that time. » He added: « Do not show this tooth to anyone else. » Then, to ensure my not going elsewhere, he explained: « If you go to someone else, you will have to pay, but if you come back here, it will be a free visit. »
Eight days later, I called Dr. Bani’s office. His son picked up the phone then called his father to the phone at my insistence that this was an emergency. When Dr. Bani took the call, I explained that the infection appears to have spread throughout the whole mouth and that this particular tooth was so painful that barely touching it with my finger was causing excruciating pain. Dr. Bani replied by saying: « I said to wait five weeks, and therefore it’s going to be five weeks before I look at this tooth again. » When I tried to repeat my explanation, Dr. Bani’s son’s voice was heard telling me that his father had walked away from the phone. I called my dentist right away. He discerned the urgency of the situation and called another endodontist, who was ranked as #1 in competence and popularity among endodontists in this area. This endodontist called me and told me to go over right away, and that he would postpone his next non-urgent appointments so as to accommodate my emergency condition immediately. He worked on the tooth the whole afternoon and the whole following day in order to save that tooth. He had ultra-modern equipment where he could clearly see the tooth through mirrored equipment. End.

I want to thank Dr. Banihashemi and can't recommend him enough. After dental work with dentists at another office, I developed excruciating pain and was told I needed an immediate root canal on an adjacent tooth and was referred to their office's partner to perform the root canal. Thankfully, friends and family referred me to Dr. Bani after I had contacted and been refused by other doctors who were fearful of being critical of another dentist's work. Dr. Bani could have proceeded with a root canal and I would have been none the wiser but he is an ethical man. After his evaluation, he informed me that the adjacent tooth did not need a root canal and that the pain I was suffering from was nerve pain from the current and multiple previous procedures and trauma to the tooth which was being worked on at another office. He pulled out his charts and diagrams and fully explained what was happening to me and how my nerve was causing the excruciating pain and that he believed it would subside in a few days. He was right. His skilled and educated knowledge saved me from a procedure that was not needed. Dr. Bani was referred to me by extended family as he had done their root canals and they had nothing but glowing accolades for him. They were right and I am grateful that I was referred to this excellent doctor.
