Dr. Oates has been ok. Chelsea at the front desk is completely unhelpful. This doctor's office has had several issues just completing the insurance claims for my 2 children. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

The only reason this place gets two stars from me is because of the amazing front desk girls that are extremely nice and willing to work with you, I had gotten into a car accident so I had to reschedule my appointment and she had offered to help me look for a new car to help me with places that she knows about that I can go. That right there is exceptional customer service, and truly a genuine personality. On the other hand, Dr. Oates calls me the day before my appointment to confirm that I was coming. Not realizing that I have a chiropractor appointment because of my car accident the next day and work. He calls me with the rudest attitude and saying “this appointment has been rescheduled several times, I don’t know what you have going on, but we reserve these appointments and why are you not coming?” This is a Money hungry man. I would not recommend seeing this doctor because who knows if he actually cares about your dental health and not just in it for the money. I just told him over the phone I had to go to several appointments for my mental health, and physical health, and I just got into a car accident and all you have to tell me is you don’t know what’s going on why am I not coming to my appointment? Absolutely not I will be taking my service elsewhere , and do not recommend this doctor.

Most unethical Orthodontic in Sacramento. He's the kind of doctor who will tell the treatment is covered by insurance but won't bill the insurance. Then when your child goes to get their braces off, will hit you a $2000+ bill that he expects you to pay right there on the spot. And will tell you he won't remove your child's braces until you pay. This is with your child excited and in the chair. Total extortion. Your child is nothing but a $$$ to him. STAY AWAY!!!

Stay away!
Strike 1: expander slipped and was causing gum irration bleeding I sent detailed pictures to personal phone, and left multiple office messages. I finally got response accusing us of poor dental hygiene, even after explaining it looks like the device was out i alignment. 3 days later he removed the device, because it slipped out of position and was causing pain/irritation.
Strike 2: my 9 year old daughter’s wire slid out of the bracket and was stabbing into her cheek. After no response from the office or messages on his personal cellphone, I ordered a specialty orthodontist tool and repaired it myself 3 days before they finally got back to me.
Strike 3 : after 13 months of treatment they decided to bring up the issue that my they were having trouble billing my insurance, the day her braces were going to be removed, 15 minutes after our appointment was supposed to start and told me they won’t remove them until they get $1200. I felt extorted, and foolish for putting my daughter’s care in the hands of someone I thought knew for 20 years, and believed I could trust.

Dr. Oates was very thorough, patient, and considerate throughout the whole appointment when explaining options and answering questions. His assistant Chelsea was brilliant as well going above and beyond to aid us and make us feel welcome. *Bonus* the office dog Triva is a doll.

Always satisfied with the exceptional service I receive. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Oates is knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand and are part of the treatment plan. He doesn’t rush his appointments, he listens, and he cares. I highly recommend Dr. Oates and his Team!

Great doctor. Loads of helpful information. I appreciate that the doctor is a perfectionist. This is very important to me. Most other doctors just give you the fastest treatment to make your teeth straight in order to get paid but they don't tell you that you have to correct your bite as well that could pose problems later. The quality of experience is worth the visit and the treatment. If you want someone experienced that actually takes the time and effort to make sure everything is done smoothly and correctly, then you've come to the right place. Never met a doctor like Dr Oates before and his assistant Chelsea made the visit very pleasant. A lot of energy and a real pick me up which I’m not normally used to at a dental practice

Dr. Oates is nice and very informative. I just hope their customer service will improve. I had my daughter's braces installed last quarter of 2023. I started calling their number end of December and on Jan 2, because some brackets had been loose during the holidays. We were told to call back if there's any problem. I didn't get any response to my calls (I had attempted to call twice already) and my husband called multiple times too, no return call. Finally, today my husband was so upset bec he didn't get any call back yet. He opted for the "new customers" option on the call menu. He was able to get a hold of Chelsea right away. Chelsea said they were busy that's why they didn't call us back. That is not acceptable. We would appreciate any call back in 1-2 days but to completely ignore your call isn't acceptable. Very poor service.. Didn't care at all. They would have to follow up with my daughter for the next few years. I hope they would improve.
