I moved here from PA 4 and 1/2 years ago and Granite Hills was the first place I went for dental services. The whole team is friendly, nice and they care about your teeth. Gobi, my hygienist is the best! Dr. Tyler and Shirley always handle my dental repairs and crowns very professionally. My crowns are made the same day. Only one trip!! I highly recommend this office!

Firstly, the team was great when it came to cleaning my teeth, X-rays, and getting my mouth all sorted out. Secondly I was late so some of what I am going to say may have been caused by that and that is on me. Thirdly, my hygienist did a damn fine job cleaning my teeth in like 40ish minutes.

To the point, the Team's Customer Service or People skills are why they are not getting a 5 star review.

Before I even got there, I replied to 2 or 3 text appointment reminders saying I could not make my appointment expecting a text or call to reschedule that did not happen until the day before my previously scheduled appointment.

When I got there, like I said I was late. I get the "we got to get things done so the next appointment can be done on time," attitude because of it. However, I was not asked two questions that could have been helpful to the hygienist at the beginning or any time during the cleaning. Those questions being, How or what have you been doing to take care of your teeth? And some version of, why have you been doing or not that or those things? Nor did the dentist ask during his exam how we got here with my oral care and the state of my teeth and gum. Furthermore, my hygienist claimed to have quite a bit of experience but then asked me what I thought about THEIR course of treatment, which I found very strange. It was like they either were not confident in their abilities or checking to see if I still had a pulse. Either way it was little off-putting, especially because I am not an expert nor have decades of experience in this specialized field. And again that could be early morning appointments were booked up, this was our first time being patient/client, I was late, or any other contributing factors like tiredness, caffeine levels etc. these all could have played a part in how the interactions played out.

Lastly, when I went to pay, I was asked if my insurance was still good? It should have been. I was not told one way or the other if it was. And the lady up front took my HSA card ran it got me a receipt, and bid me on my way. And I get Delta Dental is pain in the butt to deal with but there was no discussion of it like normal. I still don't know if my insurance is good or not.

I bring all this up because I have worked in customer service or service based jobs that are customer/client/guest facing for nearly 2 decades. There a few things you don't do. One of them is making your client or customer feel like just another number regardless of how they have impacted your business or schedule. And I will say it again, I was late that is on me and probably hindered some much needed small talk between myself and the hygienist, as well as cramp the schedule. So while it does bother me some to be treated like just another number or client to get in and out of the chair, I know the team cares or did at least, and I will get over it. It did not seem like it this time around though. However, I am more concerned if it had been someone else, who maybe wasn't late. They probably would not be back unless they had to be. And that is not how I remember the Granite Hills Dental Team being at all in the 20 to 25 years the team has been cleaning my and my family's teeth and gums. Even 6 or 7 months ago whenever I was last in it was not like that.

Really love our dentist and our Hygienist. Really bummed to have to leave this review but we’ve been going here for 3 years or more and have never had an issue with cancellation or rescheduling until today. Their office called me to confirm the appt day of and when I asked to reschedule because our daughter has dance and soccer at the times the wanted to reschedule they charged a $40 cancelation fee. We are moving to a neighboring city and I was going to just make the drive to stay with our current dentist Dr.Tyler because we’ve really enjoyed his practice we will now instead be looking for a new dentist. I know that when a place a busy and they are trying to fill appt slots there is typically a cancellation fee but that’s not the case at this particular dentist i get calls, texts, and emails almost daily that their are open appts. I’ve also rescheduled before and have never been charged a cancellation fee.
