5 stars for the attention and care when I was there for a procedure.
ZERO stars for their billing department. I received a notice from a collection agency that I was past due for about $100 for a bill that was already paid in full, and for which I never received a statement or bill. When I checked with my insurance carrier, it showed as paid in full. When I called SurgCenter, they blamed the collection agency for "Pulling" the wrong file. They also said that I would soon receive a letter from SurgCenter clarifying that the collection notice was in error. That was 10 days ago, and I am yet to receive anything.
I finally called the collection agency and they said that SurgCenter sent the wrong file to them. I finally got a letter from the collection agency saying that the account reference is closed with no balance due.
Very poor billing service from SurgCenter, with no follow-up for this mistake.

If I could give it a minus 5 stars, I would. Here are the facts. I had my shoulder surgery on 9.7.2023. Prior to the surgery, I paid $4,028.58 in cash. The alledged accounts receivable specialist is someone named Lisa Houston, who allegedly works for a subcontractor named nsn revenue resources. She has been holding me hostage with my deposit through today for over 13 months.

As of 9.25.2024, my insurance comany at the time, Aetna, shows my amount due as of today is $2146.56 leaving me a refund due of $1882.02. Lisa has continuously made excuses all along the way. She will claim she sent me a couple of emails needing help with my claim. I have 5 years of emails that don't corroborate her claim. If she really wanted to do what was ethical she would have sent me a registered letter or an overnight letter requiring a signature.

I get 100 emails a day. That conveniently reduces her risk. My opinion is that she is working the system for her benefit and my detriment. She seems to care nothing about the patient and what is ethical. At worst, I feel she is a fraudster. Regardless, she doesn't belong in this industry or any industry for that matter.

This isn't the first time SurgCenter at Pima Crossing has gotten this complaint. Check out other reviews. Doc Gruber is a really good surgeon, but my strong suspicion is that he has an ownership interest in this facility. Huge conflict of interest. Botton line, I would never use this facility again. Despite Doc Gruber skills as a surgeon, not sure his heart is in the right place on my situation. Certainly, in my opinion, Lisa Houston is not working for patients.

I am planning to file a complaint with the AZ Medical Board. No results, I will consider legal action against both parties for damages. This can't continue.

UPDATE: Ironically, I get an envelope today from SurgCenter and I think finally I got the check. Wrong, they send me a bill for $1346.90. In my opinion, Lisa Houston, SurgCenter and perhaps Doc Gruber are in financial dire straits. Only way this can happen. Stay away from this place at all costs. They all will pay the legal price in good time. I promise you it will be financially painful for all.

I had two surgeries (Dec/Feb) here and both times were great experiences. I was nervous as one was the first surgery I've had. Everyone was kind, helpful, and reassuring.

Nurses were extremely helpful and very nice. I was treated like a king while I was there. My surgery was delayed by the Dr and they brought me my phone and my glasses so I could have something to do and look at while I was waiting. I have had quite a few surgeries in my life at many different surgery centers, and this place was, hands down, the very best!!! I felt like they genuinely wanted to make sure they gave me the best experience and they were very successful. I highly recommend this facility!!!

I have spent six months at this point trying to get this facility to confirm with my insurance that I paid 3,742.64 out of pocket on the morning of surgery. I have spoke with the billing department three times and the manager twice. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they never responded to the letter sent by the BBB. My insurance is a mess since my out of pocket has been met but I continue to get bills from other providers. This surgery center is a menace and has no respect for patients or their concerns.

I want to thank you for the great care I received during my recent hip replacement surgery. You are a fantastic team! Starting with Ada, who helped me get ready, chatted with me so I didn’t get too nervous, and best of all got the IV in on the first try and I barely even felt it. Best ever!

Nurse Amy gave me a nice hug while I was getting the epidural and she and her colleague wrapped my feet up so nicely I felt like I had little pillows on.

Post-surgery Stephen kept me comfortable and helped manage all the post-op meds so I left feeling great.

I know you all do this every day, but it’s a big deal for each and every patient. Thank you and I highly recommend the SurgCenter. So much nicer than a hospital experience!

Incredibly kind staff from the front desk to the intake nurses, injection team nurses, injection doctor, and aftercare nurses. I needed a diagnostic bilateral spinal injection and I couldn’t have sedation for it. I was scared and it hurt. No one make me feel silly for being scared, in pain, or upset. They were so kind and tried hard to distract me. What a dream team on 4/4/2023. Thank you for being kind to your patients.

Had surgery here today. Excellent Customer Service and Patient Care. Every person at this Surgery Center was over the top and extremely kind. Wish I could remember every each person's name. My Surgeon was Dr Nima Salari from DISC (Desert Institute Spine Care) of whom I would highly recommend. Dr Salari is compassionate, caring and very informative. He takes time in the office and at the Surgery center to discuss and explain all options and condition. Very nice doctor! I am so thankful and blessed to have discovered SISC and Dr Salari.
