In the last 7 months I’ve had 2 surgeries at the Camp Lowell Surgery Center. This surgery center is amazing! The people are kind, caring, knowledgeable, smiling, and thorough. The facility is clean and organized. Dr. Son and Dr. Hutcheson were brilliant, caring, and funny. Putting me instantly at ease. So many doctors forget how scary medical problems can be for their patients. I highly recommend this facility!

I went for cataract surgery and from a medical standpoint, the service was fine. However, from a billing standpoint, the hassles I’ve had since my surgery has been such that I am strongly considering dropping the doctor (who is a part owner of the facility) to avoid having to receive service there again.

I essentially had to pay my deductible three times. I paid my deductible to the provider before the date of the surgery, was required to pay again at the surgery center along with a co-pay, despite telling them that I had already paid the deductible to the provider, or I would not have been able to have the surgery. I later received a bill from anesthesiology and was actually required to pay the deductible to them because they were the ones that ended up submitting the claim first. It took several phone calls to my insurance company along with to the various billers in order to get my overpaid deductibles from the provider and Camp Lowell refunded back to me. Camp Lowell did end up refunding me, but they sent the check to the wrong address on top of it all and I still haven’t been reimbursed.

While in the end, my balance will be correct, I have had to waste a lot of time in order to get my money back. Fortunately, I was able to work through this, but I can imagine that for a lot of people who have very high deductibles, something like this would be a total nightmare. I would make sure you know what your financial obligation, including how many parties are going to be billing for services, is ahead of time before scheduling any surgery there, especially if it at the beginning of the year or you are sure you have not met your deductible yet.

I would add to this that the billing people I spoke to here on the date of the surgery were extremely rude to me. I don’t need this kind of hassle for something like a cataract surgery that should be fairly routine. Take caution if you are not sure about your finances when getting service there.

Scheduled for surgery 7/26. Called me on 7/15 to schedule a ‘pre op’ teaching session. Had to scramble to make arrangements to get there as I am primary caregiver for an ill relative. Got there, was never asked my name on check in. Nurse who did teaching came out, called me by someone else’s name and was visibly annoyed when I told her that wasn’t me. Fast forward to the actual ‘class’ I’ve been in the healthcare field for over 40 years. When teaching a class the first thing you do is find out what the background of the class is so you know how to talk to your class. This nurse referred to everything on a very basic level. The person in the class with me also has a medical background. I personally do not appreciate being treated like I’m stupid because I’m not. Then this morning I received a call from my surgeon’s office and camp Lowell canceled my surgery. Fortunately I was able to get into another place the same day. Kind of relieved about that. Any place that professes to be professional and treats people like they do not matter is not the place for me

Everyone at Camp Lowell surgery was wonderful. I came in very nervous for my surgery and everyone who helped me was patient and kind, they helped calm my nerves and answered all my questions, they made me feel better about the procedure. Tara especially, while getting me all prepped and ready for my surgery, was exceptional. Ultimately, I give them five stars for the amazing service and patient care that was consistent throughout the office. Thank you! ?

I was very impressed with this facility especially because it was my first surgery ever and I had no idea what to expect. Everyone from the front desk tech to the anesthesiologist to the recovery nurse was so so warm and helpful. The building was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I have a lot of medical trauma from childhood and the military, so places and practices like this one are helping me heal and learn to have more trust in providers with each visit, the incredible value of which words cannot express. Very grateful for Dr. Soderberg who performed my tonsillectomy perfectly and is the reason my recovery is going so well. 10/10

My Daughter had a procedure here and I was blown away by how kind and accommodating everyone was. Huge thank you too Dalila, Rachel, Rae, Silver and her anesthesiologist Dr. Vu for making a scary day much easier for all of us.

I cannot say enough good things about this surgery center. My kiddo had her tonsils out here this morning with Dr. Parry who is a fantastic ENT who I would highly, highly recommend. The nurses and staff at Camp Lowell Surgery Center really deserve high praise on this one. Not only were they super kind, personable, and caring, but because my ASD kiddo was so anxious about her surgery they gave her a tour prior to today and Rachel walked her through everything that was going to happen, showed her all the places she would be (except the OR for obvious reasons), and introduced her to some of the other people who work there. Thankfully Rachel was also her pre-op nurse, so she was able to prepare for her surgery with a familiar person and Rachel made sure to be the person who introduced her to the other people that would be caring for her. The anesthesiologist and OR nurse Brittany were amazing and wheeled my nervous kiddo off to the OR with her joking and smiling. Then her recovery nurse Tera saw her through to the end and made sure she got the flavor of popsicle she wanted and was just so kind. I can’t thank the people involved in my kiddo’s care enough. She came home feeling relieved to have gotten her tonsils out and excited about the experience that she had and the people she met. I’m so grateful that she will remember this as a good experience even though the recovery hurts.
