I have no doubt that Dr J and staff has helped others. I found the staff to be nice enough. But in the particular case of my aging mother, he in the end, failed her by not being an advocate when she needed it the most. She had an assessment (for insurance purposes) by a guy who was mostly looking at his cellphone while she was running through the exercises (I was there and viewed this). He was not even paying attention to her the whole time and failed her on the assessment. Now the insurance won't pay for her therapy. When I asked Dr J for advice to get her back to insurance, and let him know the person doing the assessment was not even 100% engaged, he said she had health problems and should be sent to a Retirement Home. Didn't address either question of how to solve the problem, just gave up on her, and that was that. He's an educated but stubborn man in my opinion. Which does not help my 79 year old Mother. I will be looking into other PT places in HP and hopefully find a better fit. Its not quite the end of the road for my Mom, she's still fighting to stay mobile. I hope we find better advocates.

I participated in rehab for both my back surgery and for my left hip replacement. If I had to rate my experiences I would give them a 10 out of 10 10 being the highest. My PT therapist David was so considerate and listened to me. I liked that he would be the only therapist I would see for the entire hour. This is unlike other rehabilitation facilities. Dr. Johnson was fantastic and made sure that I understood everything. He was very patient with me . Caroline the receptionist was fantastic too. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a place for rehab.

Dr. J and the team helped me to reconnect with and believe in my body again after 4 years of chronic back, neck, and referral leg pain, as well as several other doctors/treatments. The intake session was thorough; Dr. J made me feel listened to and treated me like an individual, not to mention he's quite funny! His diagnosis and treatment plan were spot on. His staff, Cyprian and David, were excellent to work with. They knew when to push me, always checked in with how each exercise was feeling and appeared to keep detailed notes each session. They're both very friendly and I looked forward to the exercises (and the massages!) each week. Dr. J, David, and Cyprian are very knowledgeable and helped me understand what might trigger a flare up and what specifically to do to treat it. I learned a lot about how to sit, stand, walk, lift, strengthen, and stretch in ways that are beneficial long term. Caroline was great in helping me set up appointments that would work for my schedule and my insurance requirements. Working with North Shore Spinal gave me faith in feeling better and the results I needed to pursue more labor intensive work and enjoy a more physically active life. I would recommend them to anyone dealing with pain. Thank you!!

I had a great experience with North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehabilitation. Dr. Johnson is a great diagnositcian. He put me at ease each time I met with him. The therapists are excellent, each with their own style but all so knowledgeable. Caroline was so friendly and helpful with scheduling and providing what I needed for insurance claims. I feel so much better after working with them for a few months!

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at North Shore Spinal & Sports Rehab. A pinched nerve in my neck caused headaches and pain in my left shoulder for years. I saw Dr. J. and his team of therapists (primarily David) for three months and am now pain free with a solid plan for at-home maintenance.

Dr. J is great – he really knows his stuff, takes the time to listen to patients, explains clearly what to expect, and checks in regularly at therapy sessions to monitor progress. The whole team is friendly and professional, and David is a gem – very knowledgeable and a great coach. The office is sunny, spacious, and clean, and parking is easy. I would and will recommend them to a friend.

10 years after a spinal fusion I had disc pain in lower back beneath fusion. After regular therapy 3/wk for 3 months at the Highland Park location I have no pain. I just have to stay motivated to do my exercises! Great place with a whole-body approach.

In prep for back surgery, I first used Rush physical therapy in Deerfield. They're good, but North Shore Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation in Highland Park IL. had them beaten hands down. It's the people. They're a very professional, savvy, and compassionate, bunch. Dr. J is fantastic, makes you very comfortable. I've worked primarily with two therapists, Daniel and Cyp, Daniel primarily. Daniel is perhaps the best physical therapist I've ever have a pleasure of working with. (This includes IBJI PT after rotator cuff surgery.) He's very smart, a great listener, extremely empathic and applied what he learns to routines he designs for home use. You'll have a great experience with this terrific organization, see if you can score Daniel to work with you, you'll absolutely be pleased. Caroline and husband John run the place and Caroline spent time with me designing a schedule that meets Aetna's requirements and provides me with the best PT with Daniel. I highly recommend North shore, conveniently located on 1st Street with street parking and directly across from City parking. The facility is comfortable and clean, and everyone I've met has been fantastic! If I made Daniel sound too good to be true, it might be because he's absolutely one of the best around I'm sure.

My experience here was great. Dr. J is awesome. He’s knowledgeable and he’s just a great guy. I worked with David a majority of the time while doing rehab for my hamstring and he was great. Very personable and knowledgeable, especially in exercises that benefit athletes. I feel like doing PT here has helped me stay in shape and strong for my track season. Overall an awesome experience.
