Dr. Baum and Fernandoes is an amazing family office . I was referred by a friend back in 2017 and when I made my first appointment with them I knew this will be my forever ortho office . They took care of me , made sure to hear out my every concern I had and gave me a great smile :)). The first desk is amazing and Valerie a first class profession an amazing lead clerk that makes sure that office is organized and well booked up . At any chance I always refer this office to any and everyone looking to have a better smile .. and the office window view … major vibes !!

Dr. Baum, Valerie and the whole team are just fantastic! They send reminders for appointments, are flexible with insurance and friendly. Valerie has an excellent memory. She greets by name and is efficient and accommodating. I enjoy my interactions with her. Dr. Baum is a perfectionist, which is ideal for an orthodontist. He has many interests outside of orthodontics, so our conversations are always lively. It is a corner unit with lots of windows so the view from the 10th floor is gorgeous! I really look forward to my visits.

Title: Disappointed by Aggressive Payment Policies

I had high hopes for this orthodontic office after my consultation. Dr. Baum and the X-ray technician were both wonderful—polite, professional, and clearly very skilled at their jobs. They took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and I felt comfortable with their expertise. Unfortunately, things took a sour turn when money came up.

I was quoted just under $5,000 for braces after insurance. My payment options were either to pay the full amount upfront or make monthly payments for 18 months. At the time of my visit, Valerie at the front desk mentioned that the $68 X-ray charge could be waived if I committed to the treatment right away. While I would have loved to move forward, our financial situation just didn’t allow for such an unexpected expense at that moment.

I called back later that same day to explain my situation and let them know that I wanted to come back next year to start treatment when I’m financially ready. Instead of understanding, they sent me a bill for $68. I asked if I could pay the $68 now and have it applied as a credit toward my treatment next year, but Valerie’s response was incredibly curt, rude, and inflexible.

I understand that businesses need to be paid, and I was not refusing to pay—in fact, they were getting the full amount either way. But their aggressive approach and unwillingness to accommodate even a small, reasonable request left a bad taste in my mouth. I had every intention of coming back, but now I’d rather take my business elsewhere—even if it means paying more—just to be treated with respect and flexibility.

If you’re looking for an orthodontic office that prioritizes patient care over aggressive sales tactics, I suggest looking elsewhere. Lastly, look at their reviews on yelp. They are not that great compared to the google reviews. Sus….

My experience with Dr Baum has been amazing. I’ve been coming to this office for about 3 years. Dr. Baum offers a warm and inviting demeanor and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. I appreciate that he remembers details about our prior conversations and offers a wealth of knowledge on orthodontics. The office is kept well and the staff are friendly and patient. Parking can be a hassle but it’s rare that I can’t find a spot on the street.

Dr. Fernandes and his team at the Wilshire office have been amazing! Both of my boys (16 and 13) got their braces here, and the experience has been fantastic from start to finish. For the first time in many years, my 13-year-old is finally smiling with his mouth open, and that means the world to us.

The staff is incredibly friendly, professional, and always makes my boys feel comfortable. We love Chandra at the front desk! They actually look forward to their appointments, which says a lot! Dr. Fernandes provides top-notch care and truly cares about his patients. If you’re looking for an orthodontist who combines skill, professionalism, and a welcoming environment, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Such a better experience than I had growing up. Dr. Baum has been the quarterback for all four of my kids maxillofacial development. He coordinated care with an oral surgeon for my two small jawed children and put them on a plan for early and delayed braces. One kid needed only teen braces and one didn't need any. Very reassuring that he didn't try to get every dollar out of every potential patient, but instead did what was right for each. Everyone has been thrilled with the results. I was so happy with the clear plastic aligners (like Invisalign, but designed by the specialist instead of a computer that doesn't always account for human dynamics) that I insisted my fiancee come out from the Inland Empire monthly for treatment as well. The staff is over the top friendly and accommodating. Check out these skyline, ocean and airport views!
