Brooke designed my dispensary, Lucky Green Ladies, and I was really pleased with the outcome. Brooke based the design off of the building's previous uses (auto shop, gas station) and was able to incorporate my brand colors to conceive a modern but vintage dispensary look. Brooke did an amazing job re-imagining Unicorn Bar (fka The Beverly Lounge) in Midtown Kingston for us last year. Playing off the existing art deco lighting and details, she pulled the place together in such a beautiful, cohesive and fun way that created the vibe that was exactly what we wanted -- a place to get a little fancy but still feels accessible to everyone. Unfortunately, my experience with brookelane Design Studio was disappointing. After reaching out and scheduling a time to connect—a meeting that had been on the calendar for over a week—the designer canceled the day of, citing that she was too busy with other clients. This was particularly frustrating since she had originally expressed interest in learning more about our project and reached out asking me to set up the call.

I had sent a thoughtful list of pre-questions to guide our conversation, but she didn’t seem very receptive to them. I was hoping for someone personable and collaborative, especially since this was a project in the hospitality industry and had reached out based on a similar project she completed nearby. Instead, the tone was chilly and dismissive, and the meeting was canceled via a quick email without even taking the time to explain over the free 20-minute call we had scheduled.

I completely understand that professionals can get busy, but it felt unprofessional to cancel so abruptly without offering a real alternative or showing any effort to honor the time that had been reserved. If you’re looking for someone who’s engaged, respectful of your time, and genuinely interested in your project, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
