I had been going to Catalina for many
years: The customer service had always been great. (I had been a customer for 10-+ years.)

When I went this past April because of an infected tooth (emergency visit), however, I was treated shamefully. Upon checking in, I was told I owed $78 for work from a while back. I was lectured loudly by the front desk person including times and dates I had been contacted about the debt. Everyone in the waiting room heard. Everyone. I was not in a great place emotionally, as I explained; my mom had recently died after a long illness which is why the bill was overlooked. Mind you, I had not had an outstanding debt with them before. Because I left my wallet at work (I had to leave in a hurry to make the emergency visit) I couldn’t pay the balance As this was an emergency, I asked her to make an exception and allow me to see the dentist and she (reluctantly) agreed. Then, when the dentist took me back, he brought up the $78 outstanding balance. THE DENTIST! (Dr Icely). He was condescending and rude. Now, not only waiting room people but the customers getting dental services (because there were only partitions to separate customers) all heard every word. It was a terribly embarrassing experience. The customer service is not what it once was. I found a new dentist and will not it be returning to Catalina.
