I was referred to Mark S. Yafai, DDS MD, by my primary dental office, ELY UY DDS. He successfully extracted my four wisdom teeth without any complications. The recovery time was minimal. In my opinion, he is the best oral surgeon on the West Coast. The staff is professional, friendly, and polite. They made the entire process of my appointments with them very easy. They are knowledgeable about insurance coverage and procedures that are covered. While they can be busy, the wait is worth it. I will definitely recommend Mark S. Yafai, DDS MD, to my family and friends. I am extremely satisfied with my experience.

Dr Yafai is real life angel. His knowledge and experience in this field is inimitable. I write this on behalf of my 93 year old grandmother whom I live with and take care of full time. This is now the second time we’ve seen Dr Yafai. Both visits were for an extraction. The first extraction was extremely simple, while the second extraction had a bit more complex to it. I had impacted wisdom teeth that needed to be removed, it was slightly showing signs of movement for a few weeks (tingling here and there) so I called to schedule for a consult & extraction. It wasn't for a few days from today but this morning I had to call in for an immediate consult due to increased pain I was having and they were able to accommodate me right away.

I was in at 9AM and out by 1PM - from paperwork, xray, very detailed and helpful review of my teeth, insurance, and the procedure itself. His team there all work like clockwork, and I didn't feel a thing throughout the whole procedure which was what I was most nervous about!

After my extraction, I woke up to my ride already there (all so nicely coordinated by his team) with a post-op goodie bag of ice packs, pudding cups, and post-op instructions. Highly highly recommend!

Think twice before going to this butcher. I went in for wisdom teeth extractions and ended up getting a botched plastic surgery. I am finally leaving a review to warn others so that they don't repeat the same mistake. Two years ago this guy removed 3 of my wisdom teeth and it ruined my bone structure. He didn't warn me that wisdom teeth removal can change your bone structure and cause functional issues such as insufficient tongue space and ongoing bone loss. I would’ve never elected to pull these damn teeth had I been warned.
After extractions, I started noticing changes to my bone structure and recession. My jaw started shifting in, so I went back to ask what happened. He didn't even compare my before scans to my after scans. He just told me that it's "impossible" for wisdom teeth to change your structure and kept gaslighting me. If it’s impossible for wisdom teeth extractions to change your bone structure, then this moron must’ve botched my surgery. I don't know if it was malicious or if this guy is just an idiot and doesn't understand bone building mechanics, but the fact remains: he extracted two healthy teeth for no reason, and it caused me issues.

My facial bone structure changed in a matter of MONTHS. Shortly after extractions, my jaw started narrowing and shifting inward. My jaw also rotated down and changed shape. It used to be more square, but it turned into a triangle that's melting into my neck. My cheekbones narrowed and “rotated inward.” My heart shaped face is gone. My entire face has narrowed and become shorter. Since I lost so much of my bone structure, my skin feels loose and my facial muscles feel sore from trying to adjust to the new structure. I lost so much bone that my skin feels like it’s sagging over a deficient structure. My lips have also become sunken in and narrow. I used to have a wide and beautiful smile, but now it has narrowed and has buccal corridors. My face was angular, but it flattened out after these extractions. Watching yourself change in the mirror while there is nothing you can do about it has been one of the most grueling experiences of my life. I had a beautiful bone structure that others complemented me on, and now that's gone because this scammer wanted a couple thousands in his pocket. These changes happened in a matter of months so it's not "aging." It's also not "hormones" because I checked them as well.

I also experienced functional issues. Because my jaws shifted backwards, I have less space in my mouth. My tongue feels too big for my mouth and it's uncomfortable to talk. I’m walking around constantly aware of my tongue being caged. It's extremely uncomfortable and disorienting. My right jaw also started clicking after these extractions. My facial muscles constantly feel sore, which I'm assuming is due to the bone loss and changed bone structure. I've never had these issues until these wisdom teeth extractions.

After some research, I saw that others have experienced similar issues after wisdom teeth extractions. It's either this “doctor” is so arrogant that he is unwilling to consider patients' concerns just because it doesn't align with what he's been taught or that he is wilfully covering up these side effects to line his pockets.
I am devastated. It's been 2 years, and I’m still experiencing bone loss and ongoing discomfort. I feel like I got mutilated. I didn't have to extract my two upper wisdom teeth. They were completely healthy, but this “professional” told me to get them out because wisdom teeth are "useless." Biggest lie I've ever heard. Why didn't he warn me against extracting healthy teeth? Do yourself a favor and look into the effects of wisdom teeth extractions. Read online stories and testimonials. See what people say about wisdom teeth extractions. I wish I was warned about these side effects of extracting wisdom teeth, because I would have rather dealt with pain than go through this. This scammer got to walk away with a couple thousand in his pocket while I walked away with a lifetime of regret and resentment.

Dr Yafai did two biopsies on the inside of my cheek with just local anasthesia. No pain, very little bleeding, stitched up in no time. He and his staff are excellent! I highly recommend them.

I took my son for what I thought would be a complicated extraction and the amazing Dr. Yafai did it no time. He is an awesome oral surgeon, as are his staff. Dr Yafai is very professional and knowledgeable. He got all of my four wisdom teeth out and I had no complications and a fast recovery (I was eating 90% normal after just one week). Before the surgery I was very nervous, but he assured me he has a lot of experiences with cases similar to mine and I should be fine. And he was right! I didn’t even need painkiller from day 3 onwards because he has done such an amazing job. He is also one of the few doctors I’ve seen who truly care about his patients’ wellbeing.
