I had been putting my wisdom teeth off for about 6-8 years and finally met with Dr McGann who takes a lot of care to each patient. After the consult I scheduled my wisdom teeth surgery and they immediately put the Rx in for what I would need. The day before surgery they called me to make sure I knew what to do and the morning of was so easy. I checked in and paid for my services, I waited maybe 2 minutes and was taken back by the assistant who got me set up. After about 5 minutes Dr McGann and his team came in and got my 4 wisdom teeth out in about 15 minutes. It was so easy that I didn't even have time to think about being anxious. I was in and out of there. I am about 3 hours post op and feeling good. Dr already gave me a call to check in on me
and tell me not to hesitate with a phone call if I need him. Overall a really great experience. I have never met someone who has made me feel comfortable in doing this procedure until I came here! Everyone is professional, nice, caring, and the office itself is beautiful and new. 10/10 recommend coming here, thanks Dr McGann and team!

A few years ago, I underwent wisdom teeth extraction with Dr. McGann and his team. Prior to the procedure, other oral surgeons had warned me that the tooth on the LEFT side of my jaw was impacted and positioned close to the inferior alveolar nerve, which significantly increased the risk of nerve damage. Dr. McGann acknowledged this risk but appeared confident and knowledgeable which reassured me. Therefore, I agreed to proceed with the surgery.

On the day of surgery, I felt the process was rushed. After the procedure, I was asked by an assistant to walk back and forth in the hallway, even though I expressed feeling lightheaded and experiencing numbness on the right side of my face. Looking back, I felt these concerns were perceived by the team as normal.

In the hours and days that followed, I noticed that the numbness in my RIGHT tongue did not subside. I contacted Dr. McGannā€™s office and attended follow-up appointments, where I was told I may have sustained right lingual nerve damageā€”despite the initial risks being higher on the left side. Unfortunately, I was also told that this damage would potentially be permanent if there was no changes in my recovery after one year.

Dr. McGann and his team were professional and empathetic during follow-ups and provided resources for potential nerve repair surgeons upon my request. However, after learning that recovery was unlikely and that corrective surgery posed its own risks, I decided not to pursue further interventions to avoid compounding the trauma.

Years later, I continue to experience symptoms that began after this procedure, including:

- Persistent taste alterations on the right side of my tongue.
- Speech difficulties due to tongue twisting that wasnā€™t present before the procedure.
- A constant ā€œpins and needlesā€ sensation in my right tongue.
- Severe pain during routine dental work, such as gum health assessments, which causes sharp zings in the injured area.

This has made dental care an ongoing challenge for me. If I could go back, I would have reconsidered removing my wisdom teeth entirely. I am sharing my experience to help others understand the risks of this procedure. While this outcome occurred for me and is an uncommon event, I encourage everyone to weigh their options carefully and ask questions about potential risks before making a decision.

Dr. McGann is an outstanding and highly skilled dental surgeon. About a year ago, while I was living in Florida, I had a tooth extraction that went wrong, leaving a tooth root fragment lodged in my maxillofacial sinus. I didnā€™t realize anything was wrong until months later, after I had moved to San Diego.

When I found out about the issue, I turned to Dr. McGann for help. He performed a Caldwell-Luc procedure with incredible care and expertise. I was nervous at first because everything I read online about the procedure made it sound painful, but Dr. McGann reassured me it would be manageableā€”and he was absolutely right. Aside from a few hours of soreness once the numbness wore off and some minimal bleeding, the recovery is surprisingly easy.

Dr. McGann truly exceeded my expectations, and Iā€™m looking forward to getting my dental implants done under his care!

Got my 2 upper wisdoms taken out this morning and when I tell you it was the easiest procedure ever. Literally took 15 mins I was home within 40 mins of the procedure. They gave a care kit with an ice pack, chapstick (didnā€™t know how much Iā€™d want that), and instructions. The nurses and doctor are all so kind and nurturing. I also only paid $75 out of project whereas another place quoted me $2500 out of pocket. The offices here are also clean and luxurious. Highly recommend if you need any oral surgeries.

Grant and his team did an excellent job with my wisdom teeth removal. Very efficient consultation and the surgery only took around 25 minutes. I had minimal pain and swelling. When I told my friends and family, they couldnā€™t believe it! 10/10 would recommend Dr. McGann!

I have been meaning write this review for sometime. I was referred to Dr McGann by my dentist for a tooth extraction. My care was outstanding.
This practice is terrific: professional, competent, efficient, caring. The staff and Dr McGann are friendly and informative. They appear to have thought of every detail in the care of their patients and to enjoy doing their job well. My tooth was challenging: a fracture into a root and a chronic infection.
The procedure went well, no pain or complications and an easy recovery.
Thank you Dr McGann and team!

Dr. McGann is a phenomenal oral surgeon! I had my wisdom teeth extracted, and fortunately, the extraction involved little to no pain and was very brief which contrasted with what we expected. The recovery process also went very smoothly. Dr. McGann answered all of our questions thoughtfully and provided us with all the pertinent information about the procedure that we could possibly need. Shoutout to Dr. McGannā€™s staff, especially Enrique, for assisting us throughout the visits! I would definitely recommend Dr. McGann, if you desire an excellent and attentive oral surgeon.

Iā€™m a couple years out from surgery and tbh Iā€™m unhappy with the results. The doctor performed lower jaw surgery on me when double jaw surgery should have been performed. My facial proportions look very off from the front and side, itā€™s like the bottom third of my face is too long and steep now. The bone grafts didnā€™t take so I also have gaps and bumps on my jawline which are visible from the front (I used to have a very nice, straight jawline). My jawline and smile also look asymmetrical from the front, because he aligned my lower jaw with a crooked upper jaw instead of moving both.

I told the surgeon that my upper jaw was crooked in our consult and he gaslit me, telling me it was fine (despite my nose being crooked reflecting the crookedness of the maxilla) and telling me Tomā€™s Cruise has the same issue and is fine. I wish he would have just told me he couldnā€™t perform the surgery.

Overall the surgeon is a nice guy, my occlusion is okay, and I didnā€™t have any major complications with healing, but the aesthetics portion of surgery was poorly planned. I also did not get any morph/frame of reference for what I might look like after surgery like some other surgeons provide and I regret not getting that because I probably would have backed out and gone with another surgeon. Iā€™m sure heā€™s fine for wisdoms teeth removal/implants but seems like heā€™s not as experienced with jaw surgery.

Iā€™ve consulting with other surgeons about a revision because Iā€™m just so unhappy with the aesthetics. They have confirmed that I am still about 5-6mm recessed on both jaws and that both jaws are crooked. Overall a very underwhelming and distressing experience.
