I am 82 years old and when I went to see Dr. Barrett, he did not push surgery but said the ball was in my court. Which was very comforting. I first saw Dr Barrett in February 2024 after I returned from a trip to Taiwan. The Taiwan’s doctor told me I had a big calcium deposit in my upper arm and advised me to live with it, which made me quite depressed. To get a second opinion, I made an appointment with dr Barrett. After some MRI’s Dr confirmed it’s quite a huge one but is not malignant. He told me I have options to remove it or leave it alone. It was quite comforting hearing his assessment that it’s a quite simple and straightforward surgery if I choose to do it. In the end I decided to leave it alone since it was not bothering me too much. However in September, I suddenly developed serious pain in my upper arm and I called to schedule an appointment. Dr Barrett was on vacation but his office prescribed medication for me. It relieved my pain effectively. I then decided to have a surgery to remove it. I have an appointment with Dr Barrett when he came back to his office on October 7. Surgery scheduling manager Trinity worked really hard to get me into Dr Barrett’s schedule, and I got my surgery date on 11th. The surgery went well and I am recovering now. I want to thank Dr Barrett for explaining everything clearly and patiently to me in a very pleasant and assuring manner so I felt comfortable and confident about the surgery. Thanks for a successful surgery. Also want to thank Trinity for trying so hard to successfully secure me a surgery spot and giving me all necessary details of pre and post surgery instructions under that rash condition. The office staff are also very nice and friendly, extremely responsive. Thank you all.

Dr. Barrett and the team have been wonderful. My dad had his first knee replacement a few months ago and everything from the pre-op instructions to the post-op plan has been clearly communicated and executed on. I can't over emphasize how clear the communication has been, particularly since my dad would be doing the post-op recovery from a skilled nursing facility, which adds a whole set of unique challenges.

Dr. Barrett's Practice Manager, Trinity, is the best of the best. She's always available to chat and help, address any concerns, and just overall problem solve. She consistently replies quickly and provides status updates when an answer is not immediately available. It's obvious that she cares deeply about her work and the practice itself.

Dr. Barrett is kind and can clearly explain procedures without excess use of medical jargon. He's also always on time, which is greatly appreciated. My dad's knee replacement surgery was scheduled for a Friday, and he was kept at the hospital overnight. When I went to visit Saturday morning, I saw Dr. Barrett in street clothes and it was clear that he had checked on my dad even though it was a Saturday. That level of care is refreshing, particularly for older patients. At 3-months post-op my dad's knee is functioning great (and the scar is impressively minimal).

The Modern Orthopedics office is also conveniently located (parking is never a hassle) and very well kept. The entire office staff is friendly and helpful.

My family won't have any hesitation working with Dr. Barrett and his staff again in the future when my dad is ready for his second knee replacement.

I am no stranger to orthopedic issues. Three knee surgeries , both achilles and numerous broken bones. I feel well qualified to evaluate my medical care.. From the moment you check in at Modern Orthopedics, the staff makes you feel welcome and at ease. The office is impeccably clean and the wait times are quite reasonable. Dr. Barrett listened carefully to my shoulder complaints and put me through a through physical exam. After reviewing my images he decided to begin with a cortisone injection which he believes will calm down the discomfort. He suggested a detailed physical therapy program and we agreed to revisit the issue in 6 weeks. Other doctors were ready to coordinate surgery.. i strongly suggest you try Dr. Barrett and Modern Ortho.. His patient first mentality matches his training which includes University of Pennsylvania , Mayo clinic and Stanford.
