Parkview Hospice - Kendallville, Indiana

My husband was in Parkview-Noble Hospital and was a resident at Lutheran Life Villages, nearing the end of his life. He was in a great deal of pain. I signed him up for Parkview Hospice so he could be made comfortable and pain-free. The Nurse and Trainee from Hospice did not do one thing to help him. They refused to give him the medications to help with pain and anxiety that Parkview-Noble Hospital had prescribed. The trainee said they didn't want to overdose him. He suffered for five hours in severe pain because those two wonen did not know how to perform their duties. I asked the Nurses at the nursing home to please take over his care and they stepped up but my husband suffered for five hours because of a lack of care from from Parkview Hospice. My husband died the next morning. All I can hear when I try to sleep is my husband begging for help. The Nurse and Trainee were rude to me saying things like, "Take a deep breath." "We did not promise he'd be pain-free." "Maybe Hospice isn't for you." They were unprofessional, cold, hateful women. I was told they were the "Weekend Help." (So you aren't supposed to die on a weekend?) I talked with their Supervisor and she promised to get back with me after her investigation, but that hasn't happened. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I am mourning my husband's death but more than that, I want to apologize to him for his suffering and I can't. He's gone. I am living with guilt everyday because I signed him up with Parkview Hospice. It's too late for me to avoid them, but it isn't too late for others to learn from my mistake.
