I had a very disappointing experience at PDI with my 4-year-old daughter. She had early cavities, and instead of addressing the cavities through proper treatment like fillings, they opted to extract some of her teeth and place silver caps on others. As someone in the dental field, I know there are better options available to preserve children’s natural teeth.

I left feeling like this facility prioritizes extractions and caps over appropriate, conservative dental care. It seems like they’re more focused on procedures that might bring in higher insurance payouts rather than considering the best long-term care for children.

Parents, please be cautious when bringing your child here. If your child has early cavities, ask plenty of questions and consider seeking a second opinion to ensure you’re making the best decision for your child’s oral health. I regret taking my daughter here and hope other families can avoid a similar experience.

They say they offer crowns but in my opinion they would rather pull your kids teeth to save time. I asked if my son could get crowns on his front teeth and they firmly said no he was not a candidate even though they stated they can offer porcelain crowns. Secondly they told me my son had gotten a filling on his front tooth but they pulled it. They gave me a paper stating two teeth were pulled when he clearly was missing three teeth. The staff and facility was great other than those issues. Facility was clean, team was kind. In my opinion it’s likely their management directs the staff to pull teeth to save time and could be doing crowns and that makes me so sad for all the medi cal kids in Sonoma county that rely on the facility for dental procedures.

PARENTS BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got kicked out of our 3 year old son's appointment this morning, 7/11/24, that they have rescheduled 3 times since we first were reffered in October 2023, because they were trying to force us to give consent to pulling out all 4 front top teeth BEFORE she even LOOKED in our son's mouth and knew for sure they needed to be pulled. She said we had to blindly consent to everything before knowing, or else we have to leave. They would not look in his mouth first. The reffering dentist only referred us because she could not get a good look in his mouth due to extreme anxiety, something this place boasts about being equipped to deal with. It even states so on the website. Apparently, that is SEVERE false advertising. There was staining on the front teeth that the reffering dentist wanted to get better looked at. She said this place would be able to do that while under anesthesia. The dentist here at PDI made it VERY clear they can NOT. Parents be warned. They DO. NOT. Specifically put that you need to consent to ALL work BEFORE they KNOW EXACTLY what they need to do in the packets like the dentist claimed. Make sure to review EVERYTHING on the packet, the website, and ALL review websites, including those for the individual dentists themselves, before taking your child here. The dentist herself needs to review the wording in the packet material they send out to parents before making an untrue/condescending claim to another unsuspecting vulnerable parent who didn't properly read everything. The dentist also said that if they were to pull out all 4 top teeth, my son would be forced to have a big gap, because they do NOT offer anything for kids to be able to take proper bites until adult teeth grow in. Essentially rendering them disabled with no other options.
The waiting room has ipads that we had to pull our son away from when called back. Small meltdown because we don't have one at home and he never has free access to screens. They first took us to a small pre-op room that has books, toys, and assorted stuff for kids. My son was excited and wanted to play with the things in that room. Until one of the nurses came in and told us she was moving us to another room. She told another woman at the desk it was because she had a 5 year old about to come in, and she wanted that room for the older kid. Of course, upon being taken out of the fun room and put into a boring curtained off section behind the reception desk, my 3 year old son had an absolute inconsolable MELTDOWN. There was absolutely nothing for kids in that sectioned off part other than the ipad they grabbed from the first room, which does not help with kids who don't have screentime. He wanted the books, colors, and to sit in the small chair. All the things in the fun room they first put us in then made him leave from. Hard to believe and appaled to learn that a medical office is pushing screens on kids, also. When I asked the dentist why she couldn't look in his mouth before telling us for sure if they needed to be pulled or not, she motioned towards my son, who was extremely upset that they ripped him away from the fun area and were forcing him to stay in a boring gray curtain section, and made a comment about his behavior. There was absolutely no sympathy or attempts from the dentist to work with my son, it was like she was unexperienced with kids who are anything but calm and cooperative.
This place does NOT work with the parents who don't blindly agree with them. The dentist will gaslight you and will become VERY condescending if you call it out. We traveled over 2 hours one way (less than others, I know), leaving before 5am to be there before 7am, after waiting 9 months through multiple reschedules on their end, only to show up and be told we have to agree to everything or they won't do anything, before they even know what they are going to do. THAT IS NOT SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THE PACKET. THE DENTIST NEEDS TO REVIEW HER OWN SOURCE MATERIAL BEFORE SPOUTING LIES.

The staff was amazing! I loved that we got to talk to everyone who was involved in working on my daughter beforehand. They informed us every step of the way even when their plan had to change due to my daughter having extremely small teeth so the caps weren't going to fit as planned. It was probably the scariest day of my life having my daughter only 2 have to go under anesthesia & they made the situation as comfortable as possible and I love the fact they called the next day to check up on her. I highly recommend them I wish they could be my daughters regular dentist I would drive the hour & a half for her appointments I liked them that much. It's never ideal when your child has to go through something like this but it's nice having somewhere that you can trust is gonna really take care of your child.

I couldn’t ask for a kinder group of people to have helped us today. The office staff, who were extremely kind and understanding to this frazzled mom. The nurses who were great with my daughter. The sweet anesthesiologist who played my daughter’s favorite song for her and answered all her questions . The knowledgeable dentist who helped my daughter. Highly recommend PDI surgery center in Windsor.

PDI Surgery Center serves the dental needs of children up to age 14, in particular, low income families. They do sedation dental work. My son needed a lot of work done, and due to the nature of his autism, it is necessary to sedate him in order to do any work on his teeth. Only problem was, he was 16. There are literally NO pediatric dentists that do special needs kids in Sonoma County! I went to PDI, and despite his age, they agreed to treat my son. The staff was thorough, professional, and friendly. And the cost was extremely reasonable. PDI made our experience convenient and worry-free. I highly recommend them.

So my child went in with healthy teeth, one however had a cavity and was deemed in need of a root canal. I had been looking. And checking on my child's teeth and noticed some very minor cavities. This place decided to put 6 metal crowns in the child's mouth. 6. Im appalled by this, I see this as nothing more than a money scheme. I would like to know what justifies these actions Money? I was unable to make this appointment and say no or else I would of I'm totally disgusted. Sick of these types of practices. At least use porcelain and not stuff that can be toxic to the kids health for monetary gains. Again appalled.
