Been going to this dentist since March. I have to say I’m very impressed with how they go about their business. Both dentist are friendly and seem to care about the health of your teeth. I have had many procedures done due to poor care from previous dentist and the dentist have done a great job in fixing those issues. The receptionist are always welcoming and work with your schedule if you need a specific day and time. The dental hygienist and assistants are always so nice and welcoming and make you feel comfortable.

As somebody who use to work in Operations, I am inadvertently, hyperaware of business’ operating rhythms (or lack of). I am forever frustrated by almost every single medical office I go to (and I’ve been to MANY since I move constantly). But I try my best to extend grace because an employee can only be as good as the systems and processes put into place by their employer.

However with every single visit to Philips Ranch, I kid you not, I cannot help but think of this place as a well-oiled machine. Every single visit, every single employee, every single interaction, I continue to be amazed at the level of follow-up, competency and most importantly, compassion from the front desk to the dental technicians to the dentist(s) themselves.

You’ve got Amber in the front, who impressed me from the very beginning, with multiple phone calls to my insurance to confirm coverage for a “potential” customer who had yet to even walk through the door. This was in stark contrast to other dental offices who wanted me to call my insurance on their behalf (which I don’t mind doing because I prefer to have the most accurate info from the get-go, which usually means hearing it from the horse’s mouth). But Amber went above and beyond with constant updates/follow-up’s while waiting to hear back from them. Usually the “waiting to hear back” from 3rd parties is when things start to slip through the cracks. Not the case at PRDG!

Next up, you have Marcy (I believe she’s the office manager). Nothing slips past her, I can promise you that! Unlike most places, she is undeniably pro-active rather than reactive when it comes to your dental care. I truly believe that you need to be your #1 advocate for yourself when it comes to your health. But it definitely puts my mind at ease knowing that she is also watching my authorizations on my behalf—also, kudos to her for working diligently to accommodate my schedule for the fastest appointment times.

Last but not least: the man, the myth and the Legend, Dr. Merchant himself. I have been absolutely terrified of having my first Crown done for the last few years, avoiding it until it became unavoidable. Every single dentist I’ve gone to, I would be told the same spiel: that it “wouldn’t hurt” and assured that “my pain levels would be monitored closely”, only to prove not to be the case. Never in a million years did I think it would be possible to experience such minimal pain during a dentist procedure. Even during the initial consultation, he took his time answering all of my questions and concerns in depth, putting my anxiety at ease. There is no doubt in my mind that his passion truly is helping people— even after his many years of practice, he continues to be a refreshingly positive light during every visit. I do not think that I can express the depth of my gratitude in a review— but I hope this at least helps others decide to give this place a try.

Absolutely love this place!

I know, I know, love the dentist? How right.
When you walk in the girls in the front go far and beyond with getting you set up!

Than when in the chair there are pictures on the ceiling which is a first. If that’s not even enough, there is a TV in front of the chair. So waiting or distracting the nervous is easy.

But the SERVICE! And all the golden nuggets Dr. Merchant gave me.

Dr. Merchant & Dr. Choi are by far the BEST IN THE WEST!!! They are so honest, loving, trustworthy. Lesley, Arlenne, Amber, Felicia are all amazing and all offer such excellent and generous service to all patients. Highly recommend this office for all your dental needs!

Wow!! Dr. Choi was the friendliest and most gentle dentist I’ve ever met! I had a few cavities so she helped fill them. I needed some local anesthesia. Usually those injections really hurt, but Dr. Choi was so gentle that it was a smooth process! I would highly recommend her as a dentist to anyone looking for a friendly, kind, highly-skilled dentist!

I have been going to this dentist office for over twenty years now. It used to be in Phillips Ranch and has since moved to Diamond Bar. I was a bit concerned when it changed owners due to retirement but the new office is actually much improved.

Staff and the dentist are very friendly, and the equipment has all been modernized. I highly recommend Phillips Ranch Dental Group.
