He asked questions to ensure he had accurate information to help me make good decisions. The cost was also a lot more affordable than if I had just gone to a private practice. My experience with ATSU has been nothing but positive. They offer top orthodontic care at prices that are tough to beat. The student doctors and staff have all been very transparent and thorough with my ortho case. My doctor was Dr. T. Nguyen and he worked with me to choose the best plan for straightening my teeth. It was a unique case in that i had a couple of missing teeth and he presented me with a couple options for treating it: 1. The expensive but quicker route of keeping the spaces open in preparation for implants. Or 2. Use an existing wisdom tooth to take the place of the missing spot and save a few thousand dollars on the implants. I feel like most clinics would almost definitely opt for the more expensive route, but Dr. Nguyen gave me the choice of what i wanted to do. I ended up going with option 2, using my natural teeth to close the gaps. I’m about 2 years into my treatment now, the gaps are almost completely closed. I paid $3500 in monthly increments of $117 for the two year treatment plan. That leads me to another positive about ATSU, in that if my teeth need more time to straighten out I don’t need to pay to continue my treatment. It’s a set amount at the beginning and there are no surprise fees. I would highly recommend this clinic for your orthodontic treatment, in fact, I’ve recommended it to a lot of friends and family seeking a straighter smile. Thank you ATSU and thank you Dr. Nguyen!

I'm one last appointment away from completing my braces journey so I decided to provide a throughout review of this Ortho Advanced Care Clinic at A.T.Still.

I started my ortho journey with Dr. Kevin Kang in 2020. In the beginning, I was a little bit hesitant. I wanted to do Invisalign but because my case turned out to be more complicated than expected, the best option was to get the traditional braces. However, Dr. Kang did a great job explaining the many questions and concerns that I had, and that eventually convinced me to sign my teeth away.

Under the supervision of Dr. Papa, a very caring and funny professor, Dr. Kang went above and beyond to provide the best care possible. There were times that the braces gave me discomfort, which was expected, but Dr. Kang got it taken care of in no time. Some other times when treatment did not go as planned, he immediately consulted Dr. Papa to find another method that might be a better fit, and it has always worked like magic.

Dr. Kang, just like all other ortho residents, only had 2 years to complete his residency. Honestly, I was a bit fearful that when he graduated from the program and my ortho journey still did not come to an end, the new dentist would not be able to provide the same amazing quality of care. However, I was wrong, in a very good way!

When Dr. Megan Anh-Thu Do took over my case in early 2023, she provided nothing but excellent care, no less than what I received from Dr. Kang.

At that time, I just came back from a long trip oversea, so there was a pause in treatment for about 5 months. A few brackets already fell of the braces and caused my teeth to shift a bit out of the way. In spite of that, Dr. Do got it fixed up in a very short amount of time.

Now here comes the biggest trouble that I had during my journey: I had to extract 4 teeth - 2 on each side of the upper jaw - due to overcrowding. That's totally fine with me. The thing is, for some reason, the gap on my left jaw closed and stay closed in just a few months; but the gap on my right side was too stubborn it didn't want to close at all. That was the worst headache for Dr. Kang, and also for Dr. Do. Good thing is, after almost a year trying various methods, Dr. Do sucessfully closed that gap and I could not be any happier!

The moral of the story is, everyone is different and your ortho journey may be very different than mine. But if you have any complications or things don't go as planned, please be patient and have faith in the residents. Before coming into this extremely competitive program, they had already completed extensive training from the top dental schools in the US. For my case, Dr. Kang got his DDS from UCLA and Dr. Do got hers from UCSF. And with the awesome supervision of Dr. Papa, I'm glad that I had placed great trust in them. I didn't mind that sometimes it took them extra time to find the best treatment for me.

Now if you think that the amazing care you get here will surely come with a hefty price tag, you're totally wrong! I onced went to a private clinic in downtown Phoenix and was quoted about $8000, not included X-Ray and extraction, and that turned me away immediately.

Good thing I tested my luck again couple years later. For the whole time at A.T.Still Advanced Care Clinic, I only paid around $4500, and because I did it during Covid, they did give me another 10 or 15% discount on top of that. It's been nearly 4 years and prices may have gone up now, but I'm sure this clinic is still a great choice should you need any ortho service in this economy.

To end this longer than usual review, I want to send a thank you from the bottom of my heart to Dr. Papa, Dr. Do, and Dr. Kang, along with the amazing team at the front desk and in the clinic for the last 4 year. Words truly can't describe my gratitude for you all!! ?
