I would not recommend this orthodontic practice to my worst enemy.  Dr.Maung completely destroyed my teeth, bite, gums, and jaw joint during my time as her patient. I went to Dr.Maung initially to have a new retainer made after doing braces as a kid.  Like a lot of people, I stopped wearing my retainer therefore a couple of teeth shifted over the years. I had minor rotating of a couple teeth and a class 2 bite, but nothing severe.  No jaw pain, I had great teeth.  She told me she would make me look "less bucked tooth" and felt the need to point out that my lateral incisors were different sizes.  Looking back, I feel that these unnecessary comments were to instill insecurity during the consultation.  She then recommended clear aligners, at an affordable cost.   I did about a year and a half of clear aligners and I was left with an open bite after treatment, we started refinements.  I was completely anxious and worried the entire time during refinements because of how open my bite was.  I could barely chew food.  There were no rubber bands placed during refinements, which I found to be odd.  I couldn't understand how my bite was going to close in just another 14 trays.  However, I was repeatedly assured that it would close.  After about 7 months of refinements, my bite was still off and extremely open.  She told me we would have to wait 3 or 4 months just to DETERMINE if I would need another round of refinements.  This is AFTER already doing 2 years of treatment!!  The orthodontists I have seen since this time have been baffled at her medical advice.  When she went to take off the attachments, she removed LAYERS of enamel off my teeth.  Both my front teeth have marks from the burr that she used.  My lateral incisors are completely flat.  My teeth and bite look worse than when I started treatment!  My teeth do not look the same, I have lost so much enamel that they do not look like the same teeth.  My two front teeth look completely transparent, I have severe sensitivity now.  I have been informed by various dentists and prosthodontists that veneers are the only option. Absolutely devastating and should have never happened. Do not be fooled by her friendly facade, she is a highly skilled salesperson.  I was lied to and told that certain procedures were covered by insurance, they were not.  She billed my insurance for procedures that I didn't even receive.  She actually billed my insurance for more money than she quoted me for during the initial consultation/contract.  She received more than what most orthodontists are quoting for in the LA area, and those orthodontists actually use Invisalign! Dr.Maung uses 3m clear aligners. I am out thousands of dollars now trying to fix her numerous mistakes in treating me.  Treatment with Dr.Maung has been one of the most devastating, horrible, and traumatic experiences I have ever had.  She was never an advocate for my health, she was only ever looking out for her own greed and profit.  After the severe enamel loss, and upon discovering the insurance fraud, I could never trust her with my teeth again. When I explained the enamel loss that she caused, she kept repeating that she felt "hurt".  You're hurt?  You just permanently removed something from my body that I can never get back.  Completely unprofessional and just a weird statement for a doctor to say.  My bite never closed, I now need braces because aligners are not an option.  I've asked her to refund me and to pay for my new treatment because of the pain that she has caused and time wasted. After much back and forth, she finally offered a refund but only if I was willing to sign an NDA.  Of course, this refund does not include the money she stole from my insurance.  What if I had a dental emergency?  I would have had to pay out of pocket because she had already fraudulently maxed out my insurance. Stay away from this orthodontist.  She is not a true advocate for your health.  Please do your due diligence when going for consultations and find a board certified orthodontist to treat your case, no matter how minor.

I cannot say enough about the excellent experience we had with Dr. Vivian Maung and Ping , the gentleman who assisted us on the phone and welcomed us in the office. Our daughter had a minor but painful incident with her braces and we were visiting the area, when other practices I called either “wouldn’t touch” (exact words) our daughter since she wasn’t a patient there or wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount for her to be seen, Ping returned my call from a message I left, this was also on a Saturday - was so friendly and accommodating by getting our daughter attended to, that afternoon. Upon arriving to he office, we were welcomed by Ping and Dr. Maung and our daughter was taken care of immediately. It’s excellent care and hospitality like this that make a 5 star practice. If we lived in this city we would most definitely be ongoing patients of Dr. Maung! Thank you, Thank You, Thank you 🙏🏼

I am so happy with everyone at Maung Orthodontics. After visiting multiple offices I knew immediately this was the place for us. Dr. Maung is a perfectionist and it is evident in every aspect including but not limited to the care, treatment results, and office professionalism. I decided to get treatment myself after shortly after my children started their braces.

Dr Muang and staff are compassionate and definitely know what they are doing! I’ve had the privilege of working meeting dr when she was practicing out of another office years ago for my oldest son and was very excited when she got her own office... now years later she and staff have worked on me, my husband, and now my two younger boys! I rave about westside dental 🙂 They are the best!!!
