I came for a consultation to finish orthodontic treatment after having to move across the country. The orthodontist was extremely rude. He pushed so hard on my jaw that I jumped from the TMJ pain. When I asked him to stop he said he needed to place my TMJ joints in alignment. I have several CBCTs (3D X-rays) demonstrating that my joints are in alignment at rest and went to several orthodontists before deciding on the one who originally provided my treatment before my move. Still I asked if he could adjust so that he would not cause pain, and offered the CBCTs so that he’s able to see what position my joints are in. He refused the CBCTs believing that moving my jaw only feeling with his hands is somehow superior to visually seeing how joints align on a CBCT. I’ve never had an experience with someone so impetuous, incompetent, and incapable of thinking critically.

Reply : believing you know better than a CBCT when positioning my jaw within the joints is arrogance. Refusing to look at a CBCT to get a better picture of how to position my jaw within the joints is medical negligence. Refusing to think critically about a patient’s pain is medical incompetence.

The staff is extremely friendly, the service is top notch, and they are extremely flexible with scheduling. My braces cost a mere $5k or so, which was a great deal compared to other quotes I got, and I cannot recommend these folks enough. You will be well served going to Dr. Tavakoli and his amazing staff.
