I will start this review by revealing that I’m pretty experienced at writing reviews; I am a veteran investigative journalist, so I’ve done Doctor reviews restaurant reviews movie reviews, but I’ve never ever quite had the honor of doing a review like this. It’s extremely personal.. but it’s also extremely painful to admit that this journey is going to start only with the financial help of Angel Link and the people who are supporting this “KICK-IN-THE -TEETH” GoFundMe to restore both my Dental health and my overall physical and mental well-being , and provide the opportunity to live far more fruitful years beyond my 76th birthday this summer than I could rightfully expect now..
But I digress as usual I’m getting ahead of myself in the story: I’m JK and I’m a spunky 75-year-old 103 pound blonde ball of fire with a messy, unhealthy mouth.
If I was writing a “who done it” I guess I would have to confess that “I done it !”, and point to a combination of overall poor health, poor hygiene and poor diet as the culprits of chaos inside my mouth.
When the good doctor at Smile Dental Clinic, Dr. Eddie Harsini finally sat down for our videotaped interview and explained to me how seriously, compromised my dental health situation was, it was not a surprise. Even the cost of restoring my dental health was not a surprise. Well, that’s not true,It was more of a shock. But but the real shocker came two weeks later, before we even had the chance to officially launch our “KICK IN THE TEETH” Angel Link “go fund me” when my teeth just fell right out! and landed in my hand, the one I’ll lay on the Bible when I swear “Yup! That really happened!”
Before we left Smile Dental Clinic that first visit, both the good doctor and Gladys, knew what our plan was, that we needed one more visit with my videographer to tape, edit and polish before we publicly launched theAangel Link GoFundMe.
However, I wanted to make sure the doctor knew. I was truly vested in all this, so out of what little money I now have access to, I was able to put $1,000.00 down to show him that I was in for the long haul and anyone on Social Security these days, knows $1000 is what it takes to cover three months worth of food. That’s MY budget!
Then the roof caved in, when my teeth fell out two weeks later and It was like the movie ended before we even started filming!
I would like to ask how many dentists out there in Phoenix do you think would do what Doctor Harsini did 48 hours ago; when ON NO MORE THAN a song & a prayer and my good faith, offering of $1,000.00, he brought me in and they temporarily reseated the bridge until we could really “ KICK -IN -THE-TEETH” i completely on this Angel.Link GoFundMe!
From the moment I post this and throughout, however, long it takes to complete my dental journey with the good people of Smile, I will review and post! And just so you know Dr. Harsini, you’ll be an honored guest at the “KICK IN THE TEETH” launch event. As always, to be continued: JK
As promised: CONTINUED! What started off as a tongue-in-cheek GOFUNDME named Kickin the Teeth, sadly really did turn into a kick in the teeth…..and that has absolutely nothing to do with Dr. Harsini and Smile Dental Clinic. It has everything to do with me spending a lifetime in advocacy for others, volunteering time, money and my heart, then believing if you paid it forward, karma would be kind. It hasn’t been. But as money has trickled in, and I’ve sold the little I had left to send into my account at Smile Dental, my dreams of eating normally again and having teeth after losing all my molars to illness over 20 years ago ended today during a reality check visit to Smile to review my options. Actually I should be ashamed of myself for not being more grateful about the fact that I do have enough money now to have dentures. And after having had the same dentist for over 30 years before meeting Dr. Harsini, my “dental terror” has subsided but my real deep seated fear is my spirit will leave me with dentures. I will die. I believe that. I’m terrified. But I do love Smile!
