My first visit went very well everyone was very nice and the establishment was nice and clean . I was scheduled for a root canal I was very nervous going back but Dr. Eades and his nurse made sure I was very comfortable and explained the process. I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure and was very happy when I left. Thanks Dr. Eades and I didn’t get the assistant name. But thank you as well for making me feel comfortable.

Until yesterday, 10/17/23, I have been really pleased with Oakpark. I went to my appointment and unlike past visits the waiting room was empty. Then a hygienist called my name. I had never seen her before. She was NOT pleasant nor friendly. I finally asked her name, "Grayson". Grayson called me back at exactly 11:03, I looked at my watch, and at 11:25 she was finished. There is no way she gave the care that other hygienist have given over the past years.
This dentist is down to one full-time hygienist, according to Grayson. Last year there were several full-time hygienist and the waiting room was packed. Something has happened. Because of the way I was treated, I will not go back. Unless you don't mine being disrespected and getting very poor care while paying a lot, I'd think before going to oakpark. Totally not the same place. Beware folks.

Started using them around the Pandemic time frame after my dentist retired. No complaints about the actual cleaning and other work. My gripe is with the young lady that does the appointments-I called two weeks ago asked if could get looked at for a crown that has come off and she said nothing available until September (so she scheduled me for a cleaning only that month-nothing for the crown that came out), but she was expecting a couple of patients getting canceled and would "call me back tomorrow morning" when it's confirmed. And here I am, still waiting for her call as the hole in my mouth gets constantly filled with food and is sensitive to my brushing and food removals.

I cannot say enough great things about Oak Park Dental. Dr. Blackmon is a wonderful dentist and his entire staff are awesome! Recently I had to face the inevitable that I needed to replace my top teeth with a denture. I had known for quite sometime but fear had kept me from moving forward. Thanks to Dr. Blackmon and his team at Oak Park Dental, I was able to proceed and have a positive outcome! I would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Blackmon, Jenn, Lanaiya, Gracen and Lacey for all of their effort to help make sure that everything went smoothly. Thank you to all of the staff for your professionalism and kindness! I truly appreciate you.

It's been over a year and the root canal Dr. Eades performed failed, caused infection and degradation of my bone, and the nerve pain is still present. I had to have the root canal redone, and the X-rays they showed me showed how poorly the root canal had been filled.

I went in to see Dr. Eades. I had two appointments here. The first was a consultation to discuss what needed done, and the second was for the procedure itself. For my first appointment, I went in and spoke with them and they looked at my tooth and some images and we agreed on a root canal with local anesthetic. When I checked out with the front desk after my consult, they said they weren't sure if my insurance would cover the cost and they would let me know. They said that out of pocket, it would cost around $700ish. Later that afternoon, I received a call telling me that my insurance went through. So, for my second appointment, I checked in at the front desk and was asked to pay for my procedure in advance - I was asked to pay around $150, and I assumed that was the remaining cost after my insurance. Weird that I was asked to pay BEFORE the procedure, but whatever.

During the procedure, I was injected with quite a bit of anesthetic under my top lip. Then, without speaking to me or asking if I was fully numb, the dentist came in and began drilling on my tooth. After I screamed from the pain, he injected MORE anesthetic in my lip. He continued drilling and I screamed again because I could still feel the drill. At that point I asked if he could numb the backside of my tooth/roof of my mouth. He obliged and without waiting, continued drilling. I STILL felt it. He then decided to inject anesthetic directly into the nerve itself which was excruciatingly painful, but I was willing if it meant I wasn't going to keep feeling him drilling into my tooth. He immediately continued drilling after injecting the nerve, and he was able to work for maybe a minute before he reached a spot where I could feel again. At this point, he was scraping the pulp/nerve out and I could feel EVERY part of the procedure. At no point did the dentist ask if I wanted to continue, or make the decision to halt the procedure because of how severe the pain was. I think my favorite part was when the dentist turned on a torch and heated his metal instrument and stuck it inside the socket, and not only did I get to smell my own flesh burn, but I got to FEEL it too.

So, I left what was easily the most traumatic dentist appointment I've ever had. I'm now one month post-op and am absolutely petrified of seeing another dentist and I have lasting nerve damage in my lip from the sheer volume of anesthetic they injected into the same spot (with no increased effect). I can't smile or kiss my boyfriend now without pain and being reminded of this horrific experience.

Oh, and I was mailed a bill for $300+ when nobody communicated with me at ALL regarding any costs aside from my first estimate when I was quoted an out-of-pocket cost of ~$700, and my second visit after I was told my insurance would be accepted and I was asked to pay ~$150.

Suffice to say, I don't feel responsible for this bill. Not after that experience and definitely not after the lack of communication and clarity around the costs associated with the procedure.

I know sometimes people just want to be mad and complain, but for anyone reading this, check out my other reviews - namely, the five star review I left for my last dentist in Colorado who not only has a team that communicates EVERYTHING openly and clearly, but has never hurt or traumatized me in the three years of me seeing her.

I'd give zero stars if I could. The affect this place has had on me physically and mentally (after ONE visit) is lasting and costly.

Update: it has been over a year, and they continue to mail me bills (though the amount has changed), and I still have lasting pain in the nerve above the tooth.

I want to thank Dr. Eades. I needed urgent dental services, and he was able to get me in and address the issue the same day. I'm extremely appreciative that he was able to work me in and even stay after hours on a Friday before a holiday weekend to help me. He is not just a great dentist; he is a great person. If you are looking for a dentist who cares about his patients and understands their needs, I recommend him unconditionally.

The Best Dental Care I’ve ever had to date .The staff went above and beyond my expectations ! Dr Eades makes getting a shot completely painless. The environment was relaxing. They worked perfectly with my insurance plan to stay within my budget . This was the correct choice for me . ?
